Loco No1 A B Titty has emerged from Low End works following her major rebuild.
Successful steaming tests were carried out on blocks but track tests proved that there are now major problems:
- There were significant steam leaks around the valve gear
- The loco runs out of steam about half-way up any incline that she attempts to climb!
Detailed examination showed that the frames are slightly twisted and this would make it impossible to eliminate steam leaks from the valve gear and reversing gear.
The loco has therefore returned to Low End Works to have her frames, cylinders and valve gear completely replaced with upgrade parts.
- An order has been placed with RWM Steam to supply a complete new "Janet" class chassis
